ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	life. However, the molecular link between abnormal fetal metabolomic profiles
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	and maternal obesity has not yet been fully elucidated. In this study, we report
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	new discoveries from the newborn cord blood metabolomes associated with a
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	case-control maternal obesity cohort, collected from multi-ethnic populations in
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	Hawaii, including rarely reported Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islanders
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	(NHPI). This cohort displays significant maternal obesity disparities by
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	subjects’ residential area average income and health insurance. An elastic net
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	penalized logistic regression model was constructed to associate cord blood
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	metabolomics and demographic/physiological information to maternal obesity, with
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	accuracy as high as 0.947. We identify 29 metabolites as early-life biomarkers
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	manifesting intrauterine effect of maternal obesity.
