PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	Preterm birth is the leading cause of infant mortality worldwide, and also
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	greatly increases the risk of developing serious health complications in
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	childhood and throughout life. Conditions that contribute to preterm birth
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	remain largely unclear, though an influence by environmental exposures is
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	suspected but poorly understood. In our preliminary work, we found that exposure
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	to common chemicals, such as phthalates and bisphenol A (BPA), may contribute to
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	this serious but understudied public health problem. We also observed strong
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	associations between phthalates/BPA and general markers of oxidative stress, and
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	in turn between these general markers of oxidative stress and risk of preterm
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	birth. In this nested case-control study within an ongoing cohort of pregnant
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	women in Puerto Rico (PROTECT), we will explore untargeted lipidomics, as well
PR:PROJECT_SUMMARY               	as levels of eicosanoids specific to arachidonic acid oxidation pathways, in
