EBC CO:COLLECTION_SUMMARY sample collection followed the guidelines approved by the Georgia Institute of CO:COLLECTION_SUMMARY Technology and the Emory University Institutional Review Boards (approval number CO:COLLECTION_SUMMARY IRB00000372). An R-Tube collector (Respiratory Research, Inc., Austin, TX, USA) CO:COLLECTION_SUMMARY was used to collect EBC samples, which were immediately frozen at -80 °C until CO:COLLECTION_SUMMARY processed. CO:SAMPLE_TYPE Breath #TREATMENT TR:TREATMENT_SUMMARY Stable CF, APE and pre-APE patients #SAMPLEPREP SP:SAMPLEPREP_SUMMARY EBC samples were thawed and lyophilized at -40 °C and ~100 mTorr for 24 hours SP:SAMPLEPREP_SUMMARY using a VirTis bench top freeze-dryer (SP Industries, Stone Ridge, NY, USA). SP:SAMPLEPREP_SUMMARY Sample residues were reconstituted in water/methanol (90:10 v/v) with a SP:SAMPLEPREP_SUMMARY concentration factor of 20, and analyzed by UPLC-MS. #CHROMATOGRAPHY CH:CHROMATOGRAPHY_TYPE Reversed phase CH:INSTRUMENT_NAME Thermo Dionex Ultimate 3000 CH:COLUMN_NAME Waters Acquity BEH C18 (50 x 2.1mm, 1.7 um) #ANALYSIS AN:ANALYSIS_TYPE MS #MS MS:INSTRUMENT_NAME Waters Synapt G2 S QTOF MS:INSTRUMENT_TYPE QTOF MS:MS_TYPE ESI MS:ION_MODE NEGATIVE MS:MS_COMMENTS None MS:MS_RESULTS_FILE ST001164_AN001925_Results.txt UNITS:Normalized peak area Has m/z:Yes Has RT:Yes RT units:Minutes #END
