Study TitleMetabolomic Analysis of Canine Diabetes (part-I)
Study TypeSingle time point blood collection
Study SummaryBlood was collected from diabetic dogs and healthy control dogs. Diabetic dogs and control dogs were breed matched where possible. Timing of blood collection after a meal was matched as best as posible. Serum was frozen at -80C.

Project Title:Utility of canine diabetes as a model for human type 1 diabetes (part-I)
Project Summary:We are examining the etiopathogenesis of canine diabetes to determine the relevance of these animals as a naturally occurring model of human type 1 diabetes. We will undertake phenotypic, metabolic, and immunologic investigations in diabetic dogs to better characterize their diabetes and attempt to identify potential biomarkers of a pre-diabetic state.

Collection ID:CO001812
Collection Summary:Blood collected by peripheral venipuncture into red top tube (containing clot activator). Blood was allowed to clot, then centrifuged at 2000 g x 7.5 minutes between 25-35 minutes after sample collection. Serum was frozen immediately after separation (always within 1 hour of collection) at -80 C.
