Project Title:Age-related Macular Degeneration: A Novel Integrative Approach to Identify Biomarkers
Project Type:Cross-sectional, observational, multi-site, metabolomics by NMR
Project Summary:This is a collaborative project between several Portuguese Institutions and Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School, Boston, US. The main goal is to identify integrative biomarkers of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). We prospectively recruited subjects in both countries. For all participants, a complete medical history was obtained, and they were all submitted to a complete ophthalmologic exam, as well as imaging. All subjects provided fasting blood and urine samples.
